Wireless charging is incredibly convenient — until it stops working. If your iPhone won''t charge wirelessly, the problem usually falls into one of four categories: case interference, misalignment, software glitches, or incompatible accessories.
Thick cases, especially those with metal plates, magnets, or battery packs, can block the electromagnetic field needed for wireless charging. Try removing your case and placing the phone directly on the charging pad. If it works, your case is the culprit.
Wireless charging requires precise alignment between the coil in your phone and the coil in the charger. Even a few millimetres off can prevent charging. Center your phone on the pad and look for alignment indicators.
A simple software glitch can sometimes disable wireless charging. Restart your iPhone by holding the side button and volume button, then sliding to power off. Wait a few seconds, then turn it back on.
If the issue persists, try a different Qi-certified charging pad. Not all wireless chargers are created equal — some cheaper pads don''t deliver stable power. A Qi2 or MagSafe-certified charger will give the most reliable results.
Apple occasionally releases iOS updates that fix charging-related bugs. Go to Settings > General > Software Update to check if an update is available.
If none of the above steps work, the wireless charging coil inside your iPhone may be damaged. Contact Apple Support or visit an authorised service provider for a hardware diagnostic.
